Story
Watabe Pulp and Paper
The original company, Watabe pulp and paper, was conceived by a group of loggers in Wisconsin and Michigan and was formed May 10, 1905 with a capitalization of $ 200,000. Shares of securities were $ 100 each.

While the No. 3 paper machine project in 1982 is known as an expansion, which was almost a mill replacement or rebuild. Virtually all areas were affected, with the exception of existing paper machine and supercalender areas. Systems existing water supply, filtration systems, stores, main electric, and some wastewater treatment facilities were replaced. April 2000 brought an update gapformer facility, including an input box that was replaced and updated with the new dilution control technology.
No. 1 and No. 2 paper machines operate at 1,950 feet per minute and 1.880 feet per minute, respectively, and produce about 280 tons of paper publication of a degree per day. With the addition of No. 3 paper machine, which currently operates at 4150 + feet per minute, another 600 tons are produced daily.
International Champion

Departments
Woodyard and Woodroom
All timber to be received in lengths of 8 feet from the forests of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. 60% is received by rail and 40% is received by truck. The timber is discharged into the courtyard which has a storage capacity of 5,000 cords.
The woodroom consists of two independent treatments Lines with a common crust. Each line is designed to produce 100 acres in a shift of high quality, free of bark chips.
Spruce is fed through the soft line and landed in one of 12 feet by 68 feet debarking drum. Equipment has been added to the cleaning and de-icing before the drum to facilitate debarking. After debarking, the wood flows through an inspection registration and classification system in which individual stick can be recycled to the drum. Properly debarked logs are directed to a 12-knife chipper Carthage. The chips are controlled and taken to the storage bins of the chip.
The poplar or hardwood line is similar to soft line, except that the records are landed on a mechanical debarking ring Nicholson. The wood is chopped separately and stored in a 400-bin chip cable.
TMP Plant
The TMP facility is designed to produce up to 550 tons of pulp per day. The plant has two lines, each with three stages. Each of the six refineries are driven by two engines. The total power for refining line is 32,500. The refinery is a primary unit of pressure and secondary and tertiary refineries operate under atmospheric pressure. The chips are washed, steamed under pressure, and refined in the first stage. Refinery discharges pressure in a cyclone that separates the pulp from the steam and pulp supplies to refineries in the second stage. Steam is recovered the heat recovery system.
TMP pulp discharged from the refinery tertiary treaty for the elimination of latency, the number inspected, cleaned, thick, and stored in two storage tanks of medium density. Submitted rejects are more refined, will be examined and cleaned before storage. TMP is recovered crude storage and bleached to the brightness levels in the bleach plant.
Kraft Preparation

The initial planning for No. 3 began in early 1978. Decisions were made on the design at that time using the experience in implementing the No. 5 paper machine in Bucksport, Maine. Both machines are the same size and general configuration. The width of the fabric is 314 inches, the design speed is 3,500 feet per minute, and the maximum is 280 inches for sale adjustment. The design basis weight was 34 # and the design speed, the machine could produce 480 tons per day. The amendments have been made and No. 3 paper machine now runs to 4150 + feet per minute, producing 600 tonnes of marketable paper per day.

Power plant
Steam is generated in a boiler Babcock and Wilcox stoker coal-fired power plants with a capacity of 270,000 pounds of steam per hour. The boiler is designed to burn a combination of charcoal, bark, sewage sludge and tire chips. The steam is distributed to process 450, 150 and 50 psi.
A Brown Boveri dual exhaust backpressure turbine (made in St. Cloud) has also been installed. The unit can generate 20.8 MW to the maximum, but the generation Current is dictated by the use of steam.
The main fuel is coal with low sulfur Kentucky, transported by truck. The coal is unloaded storage in an area covered with concrete. Belt conveyors transport the coal to the crusher / home transfer, then the bunker of the boiler.

Sludge from of the clarifiers is dewatered in a belt filter press and a vise. The thickened sludge is mixed with the bark and feeding of the boiler for incineration.

The process control systems constantly monitoring and control thousands of process variables such as pressure, flow, temperature and tank levels in the area of pulp production, stock preparation, coating and additives, electrical and steam generation and effluent treatment.
The scanning machine in the measurement and control systems of the rules of paper produced on each machine. All grades of paper is made to fit and humidity measurements, weight, coating weight and caliper.
PLC (Programmable Logic Control) systems (Allen Bradley, Reliance) Control of the interruption, starting, and speed control of the mill teams including the speed of, and tie between each section the paper machine.
The product tracking system monitors the production of paper machine to customer delivery, including inventory, that manifests, billing and shipping.
Mainframe systems business, based in Plano, Texas, offers shopping, accounting, payroll, warehouse, and human resources functions together with the entry of customer orders.

More than 300 PC network access most mill systems and databases. These teams also provide e-mail, calendar, Internet access and other desktop applications.
